Immigration

ShuffieldLowman offers a full range of immigration services. We serve a wide variety of organizations and individuals seeking short-term and long-term benefits under the existing immigration laws. Our immigration services include:

Employment-based immigration: Some foreign nationals have the opportunity to enter the U.S. with permanent resident ("green card") status through a professional, academic, or employment-based visa. These solutions include preparation of treaty investor/trader visa applications (E-2), H-1B temporary worker petitions and L-1 intra-company transfer petitions. We also provide corporate compliance and training programs tailored to each organization's needs. In addition, the firm has experience working with Consulates around the world to secure global visas.

Family-based immigration: We provide assistance with temporary visas such as fiance visas, and permanent residence filings based on immediate family member relationships and preference categories for other family members. We also handle adoption and waiver issues related to family-based immigration.

Naturalization/Citizenship: Our firm has extensive experience representing individuals with naturalization cases.

Immigration Litigation: Our firm has experience representing individuals in a wide range of removal proceedings and hearings in federal court.

Asylum/Humanitarian Relief: U.S. immigration laws provide relief for certain victims of persecution, torture, and unrest abroad; victims of certain criminal activities in the United States; and specially designated groups of protected-class immigrants. We seek to provide the comprehensive guidance to determine appropriate remedies for these challenging issues.

Waivers: There are numerous restrictions within immigration law that bar an individual from adjusting their status or causes them to be subject to removal. The firm works with each individual to formulate the best strategy in applying the applicable waiver to the relevant restriction, whenever possible .
