ShuffieldLowman partner Alexander S. Douglas, II has been named to the Advisory Board of the Professional Fiduciary Council of Florida.  Alex practices in the areas of fiduciary litigation, with extensive experience in trust and probate litigation and contested guardianship cases.

     The Professional Fiduciary Council of Florida was created to identify the public qualified individuals who are available to serve as fiduciaries (including as court-appointed professional guardians) for residents of Florida and who have demonstrated a commitment to a high level of fiduciary service.  The Council sets standards for membership; provides education, training, and reporting requirements for maintaining membership; and develops membership branding to assist the public when selecting individual fiduciaries.

     Alex is a member of The Florida Bar Probate Rules Committee, the Executive Council of The Florida Bar’s Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section, and Chair of the Florida Bar’s Statutory Discharge Joint Sub-Committee of the Probate Trust Litigation Committee and the Trust Law Committee.  He also serves on the Probate Law and Procedure Committee and is a Co-Vice Chair of Action Line, a publication of the Florida Bar Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section.  He is an active member of the Orange County Bar’s Estate, Trust, and Guardianship Committee where he served as Chair.  He frequently speaks to bar associations and organizations around the state on various probate and trust litigation topics. He has been named by Martindale Hubbell as an AV-rated Preeminent Lawyer, their highest rating.  He is also named to Florida Trend magazine’s list of Legal Elite and recognized as a Florida Super Lawyer by Thompson Reuters.  He earned his J.D. degree, with honors, from the Florida State University College of Law.  He holds a B.A. degree, with honors, from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
